Sara is a 4th year PhD candidate in the UChicago Committee on Cancer Biology. She graduated from NC State University in 2019 with a B.Sc. in human biology with a biotechnology minor. Currently, she is working on in situ tumor microenvironment (TME) modulation for solid tumors, focusing on triple-negative breast cancer. Her project utilizes lipid nanoparticles (LNP) to encapsulate mRNA encoding various cytokines and chemokines to drive T cell infiltration into “cold” tumors. When not in lab, Sara enjoys hanging out with her cat Toothless and exploring Chicago's excellent selection of coffee shops, live music venues, and used bookstores.
